Understanding shoulder pain
What's going on
Shoulder pain is rarely isolated to the shoulder itself. The cervical spine, thoracic spine, rotator cuff muscles, and shoulder blade all work together — and dysfunction in any one of these areas can create pain throughout the complex. Many cases of chronic shoulder pain involve misalignment in the upper thoracic spine, restricted cervical mobility, or muscle imbalances that place excessive load on the joint. Treating the shoulder without addressing these contributors leads to recurring problems.
Our approach
How Chiropractic Care Addresses Shoulder Pain

Our evaluation includes assessment of the shoulder joint, cervical spine, and thoracic spine to identify all contributing factors. Treatment may include thoracic and cervical adjustments to restore movement and reduce referred nerve pain into the shoulder, shoulder joint mobilization to improve glenohumeral range of motion, soft tissue work targeting the rotator cuff, trapezius, and surrounding musculature, and therapeutic modalities for acute inflammation or nerve irritation. We also guide patients through corrective exercises to build lasting stability. Many shoulder pain patients experience significant improvement within 4–6 sessions, particularly when spinal involvement is properly addressed.
Chiropractic care for shoulder pain may be appropriate if you have rotator cuff strain or tendinopathy, shoulder pain related to cervical or thoracic spine dysfunction, shoulder impingement or restricted range of motion, or shoulder pain from overuse, injury, or poor posture. We accept most major insurance plans. New patients begin with a comprehensive evaluation.
