About Stress & Anxiety Relief
What you should know
Stress doesn’t stay in the mind — it accumulates in the body. Chronic stress activates the sympathetic nervous system, leading to sustained muscle contraction, elevated cortisol, shallow breathing, and reduced immune and digestive function. Massage therapy triggers the opposite response: it activates the parasympathetic nervous system, reducing cortisol, lowering heart rate, and allowing the body to enter the restorative state it needs to heal and recharge.
Our approach
How Massage Helps with Stress and Anxiety

Treatment uses a combination of slow, flowing Swedish massage to activate the parasympathetic nervous system and calm the body’s stress response, focused deep tissue and trigger point work for areas where stress is physically stored (neck, shoulders, jaw, chest, hips), breathwork guidance to support nervous system downregulation during the session, and hot stone or other modalities when appropriate to deepen relaxation and tissue release. Regular massage — even monthly — has a meaningful, cumulative effect on baseline stress levels and physical tension patterns.
Massage for stress and anxiety may be appropriate if you carry chronic physical tension related to stress, anxiety, or emotional overwhelm, struggle to relax or decompress even outside of work, experience physical symptoms of chronic stress like headaches, jaw tension, or fatigue, or simply want a consistent, effective way to manage the physical impact of a high-demand life. Massage is self-pay (not billed to insurance).
